Cultural School

The Cultural School in Västervik has been a very important part of Västervik's municipal cultural life for 70 years. Here, children and young people have the opportunity to develop in music, dance, theater, and visual arts. Our activities offer a wide range aimed at children and young people up to 19 years old. Our mission is to provide meaningful leisure time and the opportunity to develop in our artistic subjects. It is important that everyone who comes to us can develop at their own pace, in a creative and safe environment. The atmosphere here is good and the competence is high. Our staff actively participates in the development of the activities.

The Cultural School in Västervik is looking for a new colleague to our team. Do you enjoy meeting children and young people? Do you want to give them the opportunity to express themselves in the aesthetic subject of dance? Then this is a job for you!

Your Responsibilities

You will work together with 20 colleagues in various subjects, where you will meet approximately 550 children and young people in different courses each week. The goal is to create activities and programs with an aesthetic focus that contribute to meaningful leisure time for children and young people in different parts of the municipality.

You will work both with outreach activities and course operations within the Cultural School's area, focusing on reaching new participants through open activities, holiday programs, mobile operations, and forms adapted to participants' wishes. In this role, you will collaborate with educators at the cultural school as well as with various organizations and administrations.

This recruitment concerns a position with a 50% employment rate.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for a competent educator with a university degree in dance or other education/experience that the employer deems equivalent. Experience working with children and young people in modern/contemporary dance, jazz, street, and dance mix is considered an advantage.

For this position, you need to have good digital skills and be familiar with managing social media. In addition, you should have good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written, and proficiency in additional languages is seen as a positive. Experience working with open activities and/or stage arrangements and cultural activities is also advantageous. Since we operate throughout the municipality, we prefer that you have a B driver's license.

The role of cultural school educator requires a high degree of personal maturity and a good pedagogical sense. You have a well-developed creative ability and find it easy to collaborate with participants, colleagues, and other stakeholders. You are structured, self-driven, adaptable, and enjoy trying new working methods to achieve set goals. You need to be comfortable with varying working methods and hours.
